Potential
Potential is something that is inside every human being that exist. It is the latent power of the soul, heart and mind. By latent I mean something that exist but is not yet fully developed or manifested yet. It is a power hidden and concealed with each human being. Potential is hidden in you!
Pro 25:2 ESV - 2 It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out.
How do you find that potential and release it? How do you develop it? These are some really good questions. I am glad you asked them. Let’s see if we can discover how to find and release all that potential inside of you and transform it into something more beautiful and valuable.
The late Dr Myles Munroe said, “God didn’t give Adam and Eve a table and chairs, he hid it in a tree.” I think that is a beautiful illustration of the potential that is in all of us. You are the tree and fulfillment comes as you unlock the potential that lives inside of you.
Let me give you three things to help you unlock all that potential:
Imagination
Utility
Faith
Imagination is dreaming with God coupled with a desire to do or create something that is seemingly bigger than yourself. When you produce something bigger than you it brings satisfaction in many forms…. Peace, Joy, Fulfillment, and benefits such as satisfying employment, bonuses and rewards, goods and services that make the quality of life better for yourself and the rest of the world.
The second is utility. Utility is the quality of being useful, profitable, and beneficial. I don’t know that there is anything more satisfying than being useful and needed, and beneficial to others.
Then, there is Faith. Faith is belief. It is the belief that there is something of worth hidden inside of you. John Wimber said, “you spell Faith…. R.I.S.K.” To unlock that potential, it takes a series of risks and rewards. If you can imagine something useful, the first being yourself, and then begin to utilize yourself and the gifts and talents of others, your potential becomes unlimited. The only limitations are those you put on yourself and God. God is infinite and limitless, so that just leaves us.
Let him take you on that journey of discovering your potential. Dare to take time to dream. Look around and see the needs that stir you, through compassion, frustration or justice. Ask God to show you how to meet those needs, pray and watch what happens. Jesus said “…. say to this mountain be removed…. and it shall be removed.”
Finally, don’t give up because it is hard, or someone says, “you can’t do that”, “who do you think you are”, or “I know somebody who tried that, and they failed”. These voices are common to us all who would seek to reach our potential.
May the LORD bless in this coming New Year by unlocking your Potential!
How can I pray for You?
