Follow Me
Hey there! have you ever gotten lost, disoriented or just confused about the direction or aim in your life? I believe we all have and if not you most likely will.
The other day I was surfing Facebook and came across a picture/post of my nephew’s. I commented on his new mustache and referred him to Grand Funk Railroad…. a little “jab in jest” at him as we men often do. I didn’t pay any attention to the post he made just the picture. The post read “not all heroes wear capes.” His response was enlightening to say the least. He said, “I posted the hero part because on my jog that day I found an elderly couple lost in the woods and helped them find their way out.” For honesty's sake I felt a little embarrassed and rightfully so. I had redirected his sense of honor and celebration.
There are so many good things to extract from this moment.
The most obvious is to read a full post before you make a comment! And let everyone enjoy there moment in the sun.
But back to the elderly couple who were lost and the grateful benefactors of his story. Being lost in the woods or any place for that matter can be a very frightening experience and having an angel (messenger/hero) appear and say follow me is extremely comforting. Having a Hero show up at just the right time saying follow me is reorienting and assuring.
To put this in another perspective, consider the idea for a moment that maybe you feel lost and afraid and maybe even feel somewhat hopeless in the woods of your eternal imagination and existence. It could be that you have no sense of direction or purpose, perhaps you are just walking around in circles in the forest of your thoughts.
I want to share some Good News with you. There is a Hero of heroes named Jesus jogging through the ancient trails of your mind. He is actually looking for you because he knows you are lost, and he is calling out to you “come and follow me” and I will give you direction and purpose in this life.
Jn 10:10 NKJV - "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have [it] more abundantly.
Wondering in the woods maybe a part of life but it is not really living. Jesus offers us a life worth living an abundant life, a life of quantity, eternal and a life of quality, that is rich and satisfying!
Jesus Christ, the Son of God the hero of heaven and humanity can lead you out of your fog and the mental quagmire you are in. Jesus said “…all you that are burden down with heavy loads come to me and I will give rest to your souls.”
Don’t stay stuck in the woods of your mind, let Jesus lead you, comfort you, reorient you, strengthen you and redirect you back onto the path that leads to that life of quantity and quality.
