Money, Moolah

Is money good or bad? What does Jesus think about money? Is money evil? Is it wrong to want more of it? If not, how do I get more of it? Let’s take a deeper look into these questions and see what we can unearth.

Let me say first say that money is neutral. It is neither good nor bad or evil. Money is just an inanimate tool we use to assign, measure and give uniform value to objects and services we use to engage in life and community with one another. There are two elements that surround money that can cause problems and if you can navigate them, you will do well. Those elements are the heart element and the God element.

“The heart” as one prophet of old said

“….is the most deceitful of all things,
and desperately wicked.
Who really knows how bad it is?”

If one has a bad heart, then their view of money can easily be skewed. Jesus said the “love” of money is the root of all evil, which brings up the second element. The God element and begs the question: where is your love or affections rooted? If money itself is the affection of your heart, then you may have issues. What gets our world and life in the deepest and darkest trouble is that we do not hold affection for God, the one who created us. We blindly go off into the wild blue yonder without any consultation from the LORD or his Word. There is a way that seems right to a man but in the end, it only leads to destruction and death, pain and misery.

It takes money to live, to pay bills, to do ministry, to serve people, to build houses, start business that help our families and community, to send our kids to school on and on the need for it goes.

I love this verse

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Phil 4:6 NLT

Herein lies the key to prosperity and success. If you need money, ask God for it, this is known as prayer and answers the God element. Listen to what he says then go do it, honor Him by giving back to him and give him thanks then don’t use your money only for yourself but bless others as you go.

How can I pray for you?
